As we emerge from lock-down, staying alert is part of the new normal. We are open for business and we continue to follow the guidance provided by the government. We are booking viewings and valuations as per usual with respect to new safety measures.
UK Sotheby’s International Realty Open for Business
As of 19 May, 2020
We welcomed the Government’s announcement that people can now begin to move home again and our teams are excited to be able to help and assist in person. We are acutely aware of the associated risks and concerns that many people have in relation to Covid-19 and as a business our staff and clients safety is our primary concern at all times. We are also very aware at the sad loss of life that has occurred over the past few months across the Globe and the UK being particularly hard hit – we thank the NHS for their unwavering support and dedication, it is our responsibility as one of the first industries allowed back to work to act responsibly and protect the tremendous work our doctors, nurses and front-line key workers have undertaken so far.
We are aware that some agents have made the decision to immediately open branches and bring people back to work. We have embraced the last few weeks and months and remote working has been a success for a number of our teams, in fact this is something we had been doing for some time prior to lockdown. Our communication methods may have adapted but our message and dedication to our clients hasn’t. We have therefore made the decision to only open the office by appointment and if necessary – we will not be asking our staff to undertake unnecessary journeys to simply work from an office.
Other businesses around our office remain closed, including coffee shops, restaurants and other hospitality sectors, and people continue to Stay Alert and therefore Stay home. However, it is very apparent that the market has “bounced” in light of the lifting of restrictions and viewings and appointments have begun in earnest, our brokers are reporting that they are very busy with buyers and tenants alike. Offers are being made and negotiations taking place.
If you would like to book an appointment we would kindly ask you to speak with your broker or email email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org and in the first instance you may be offered virtual viewings and then if there is a property that you particularly would like to view then an appointment will be scheduled. Please note that owner occupied properties may come with particular time slots and restrictions our brokers will guide you on this.
After our initial contact via video call, phone call or email – we will invite you to a virtual viewing in the first instance
All of our brokers will be wearing masks and gloves, we would kindly request you do the same
Our brokers will greet you with a friendly approach but will not shake hands or come into contact with you
Our brokers will ask direct questions and will ask you to confirm your health and whether you or a family member has been affected by Covid-19
In most circumstances no more than one person, or one household, accompanied by the broker will be allowed in the property – Social distancing will take place at all times.
If there are too may people present then you may be asked to stagger entry to the property to ensure that correct social distancing can take place
You may be able to view a property alone if it is unoccupied and the broker and homeowner consent – our broker will wait outside
The property will be clean
Our landlords and vendors instructions with our guidance will be explained to you before an appointment, for the safety of our team and our clients if these instructions aren’t adhered to then we may ask to reschedule or postpone to another time.
We will follow up appointments with a video call
At all times we are here to answer any questions or concerns you may have and look forward to helping you
We fully appreciate that this is a different approach to business but an essential one. We want to ensure that we do our part for our staff, clients and customers. We are dedicated to customer service, we are dedicated to your health.
